A focused, one-day continuing education course designed to help dental professionals confidently assess and understand temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and its relationship to posture, movement, and pain.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Functional anatomy of the TMJ
- Common TMJ disorders and contributing factors
- Red flags and referral considerations
- TMJ screening and assessment principles
- Conservative management strategies, including bruxism education, various exercises and manual therapy techniques
- Additional management strategies, including botox injections, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), night guards and pharmacotherapy. Please note we will not be teaching how to do these types of treatment. We will review their role and evidence for TMDs.
The course blends clear explanations, demonstrations, and real-world examples.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR
Reza Ghannadan, Physiotherapist
This course is taught by a registered physiotherapist with more than 10 years of experience in managing TMJ dysfunction, musculoskeletal assessment and interdisciplinary patient care. Reza has spoken at several Dental Study Clubs and Dental Conferences, including most recently at the Pacific Dental Conference in 2026, on the topic of the Physiotherapy Management of TMDs.
- Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy from UBC
- Functional Dry Needling Practitioner
- Diploma in Advanced Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy (Dip. AMPT)
- TMJ Training through the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute
CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTANCE
- This course is open to licensed dentists and dental specialists
- There are NO prerequisites for this course
